More than just a Face Lift

Visually telling the story of transformation, we wanted the SkinMedica digital brand to feel like a dramatic change in appearance. Fresh, modern yet refined, using motion to imbue the product benefits of rejuvenation and revitalization.   

To create a visual dialogue with our users that communicates authenticity, transformation and scientific excellence, complimented with an art direction that says ‘luxury skincare’. This is where the brand’s visual voice and trust lies and where Design Direction intersected with Page Design.

 

Out of Office Beauty Tools

Wayfinding weaving through the experience was important for the taxonomy and navigational structure, helping to create a consistent system that lets Users know where they are and why. The system should speak to them with a tone of voice, familiar terms and structures that align to their mental models and expectations, to propel them towards purchase and brand affinity.

It was all about empowering, inspiring and educating the user about the SkinMedica brand and products, while keeping visual overstimulation to a minimum. We wanted to design an experience that was easy, beautiful and intuitive for exploring and purchasing.  

Product Grid Designed as an Experience

List pages do a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to directing customers towards their purchase, yet all too often is overlooked for intelligent and insightful design decisions. Focusing on guiding users through the site by providing context, structure, and transparency to the relationship between products, science, and brand - this is how the SkinMedica product list pages became educational & relevant, guided-selling pathways to cart.

Details to Inspire

The Product Detail Page’s main job is to empower, inspire and educate the user to feel confident in making a purchase. We want to design the page longform but not overwhelming, incorporate sliders & carousels especially on mobile saving vertical real estate and make exploring & learning feel intuitive - naturally sparking curiosity.

The experience should be choreographed as if it were an Aesthetician Consultation: easy, beautiful, trusted and intuitive.

Clinically Proven Ingredients

Bringing skincare education to the forefront, the site highlight ingredients that matter, including the data, research and beneficial product information – in an simplistic immersive way, with the ability to do a deeper dive as well. SkinMedica’s innovations will be brought to the forefront, surfacing efficacy to the user, creating an experience similar to speaking with a specialist.

SkinMedica has stood at the intersection of luxury skincare and science for 20 years, backed by proven results and premium, clinically tested ingredients. Enabling the brand to digitally tell this story of potency, transformation and rejuvenation through skimmable, exciting educational content helps new and existing patients understand why SkinMedica is the gold standard.

A Legacy in Skin Longevity

SkinMedica® was founded by pioneers in the science of skin rejuvenation. Our co-founder, the renowned dermatologist Dr. Richard Fitzpatrick, had a vision to develop a better way to slow the aging process and unlock the potential of the skin to heal from within; and in 1999, the groundbreaking scientifically based skin care line called SkinMedica® was born.
